Callista Private Equity GmbH (“Callista”) announces the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Pleiger Thermoplast GmbH & Co. KG from Pleiger Group. In future, the acquired company will operate under the name “Globus Thermoplast GmbH” following a change of its legal form. The seller group decided to divest the company in order to be able to focus the resources of the Pleiger Group more strongly.
Globus Thermoplast is a manufacturer of extruded semi-finished products made of high-quality thermoplastics, such as POM or PA. The product portfolio includes in particular sheets, solid rods and hollow rods as well as finished parts, which are individually cut to customer specifications and processed on the company’s own CNC machines. In this way, niche markets in industrial manufacturing are targeted as a customer segment.
The company, based in Schwentinental near Kiel, is taken over with all its employees and is integrated into the plastics division of the Callista Group, which includes Globus Gummiwerke GmbH and etm GmbH. The integration complements the product range and the vertical range of manufacturing in the thermoplastic area. Besides generating economies of scale, the aim is to jointly address the sales markets. In addition, selected administrative functions will be provided by Globus Gummiwerke and the management will be taken over by Globus CEO Kai-Uwe Rüde.
As an independent company, with a strong group in the background, Globus Thermoplast will be able to develop freely in the market and pursue its own strategy. Through targeted expansion, both regionally and on the customer side, Globus Thermoplast shall achieve sustainable growth and position itself on the market as a flexible and agile supplier of thermoplastics. In 2020, the company achieved a turnover of approx. € 5.6 million. The acquisition of Globus Thermoplast GmbH is already Callista’s third acquisition in 2021, increasing the portfolio to 13 companies.
